Four Boxes Garden won 2012 BALI (British Association of Landscape Industries) National Landscape Award
Four Boxes Garden is one of the 9 Master Gardens in 2011 Xi’an International Horticultural Expo. In this design, we use rammed-earth walls to enclose the garden, and use stone, wood, brick and other construction materials to build four boxes. Each of boxes has a one seasonal atmosphere, spring, summer, autumn and winter, symbolizing a cycle of seasons. These walls and boxes form one main courtyard and 10 small side yards, which is similar with the spatial structure of Chinese traditional garden. We name our garden Four Boxes Garden, the same pronunciation of Chinese Quadrangle. When walking or meditating in it, people can feel the deep poetic sense and similar space of Chinese traditional garden. -

Jiangyangfan Ecological Park - Environmental Improvement and Mountain Trail Construction Project won 2012 “Qianjiang Cup” Award for Outstanding Construction Project in Zhejiang Province
Jiangyangfan is indeed the swamping process of an artificial lake. From the original water surface to aquatic plants germination, to the water tolerant trees’ rooting and sprouting, and to the today’s woodlands swamp with a small pond, these changes reveal the natural succession process and the awesome power of nature. -
Jiangyangfan Eco-Park won 2011 BALI National Landscape Awards
The site of the park is a silt reservoir built for a significant dredging project of West Lake in 1999.Ten years passed, the favorable mircoclimatic conditions made this secluded place change greatly –the seeds in silt were quickly germinating and growing, the site became a lush woodlands swamp. Being without any human disturbance, this site became the habitat of many insects, birds and small mammals.
The Park respect and preserve the features of Jiang Yang Fan itself. Some areas with well-growing plants were set aside as reserves, which were kept as living samples of the site’s natural succession. For the rest of the site, moderately thinning of the weak, slender plants could leave more spaces for the stronger plants, bring more sunlight into the woods, and allow the understory plants to grow better. Understory plants with certain ornamental and ecological value, such as food resources plants for animals, host plants for insects and some nectar plants, were introduced to proper places according to their water tolerance. Thus, the regenerated plant communities could make the landscape more attractive, friendly and provide a favorable habitat for small mammals, insects and birds. A boardwalk system was set in and guided the visitors into this ecosystem to explore the wonderful environment given by nature and refined by human interference. Jiang Yang Fan Eco-park provides sufficient ecological education opportunities and has become an open-air Museum of Nature. -

Landscape Regeneration of West Lake in Hangzhou won President’s Award of 2011 IFLA Asia-Pacific Region Landscape planning category
The West Lake of Hangzhou is a lake of great cultural significance in China and has been the ideal model of traditional Chinese landscape. By the end of 20th century, with the speedy urban growth and the increasing number of visitors, many problems had become more and more acute in West Lake region. These problems included the spatial isolation of Lake and Hills, water pollution, water body’s poor self-purification ability, traffic disturbance, imperfect tourism system and insufficient tourism space, neglected cultural heritages, disorderly expansion of villages, and so on. Hangzhou was almost unable to be worthy of the name of "Paradise".
“Westward Expansion of West Lake”, is not merely restoring the historical structure of West Lake, but a complex project. It deals with the environmental remediation, ecological restoration, landscape resources’ protection and utilization, and tourism expansion in the Lake West region or even the whole West Lake Scenic Area. It also improves many other aspects, including society, ecology, hydrology, city, and so on. The project builds a new landscape structure of West Lake Scenic Area, establishes a more perfect service system, a more scientific ecosystem around the whole lake area, and greatly promotes the city's comprehensive development.
Together with the Lake East Line, Lake South Line and Lake North Line planned by Hangzhou Landscape Architecture Design Institute, the project of “Westward Expansion of West Lake” won President Prize of 2010 IFLA Asia-Pacific Region Landscape Architecture Prize.
