  地域特征是特定区域土地上自然和文化的特征。它包括在这块土地上天然的、由自然成因构成的景观，也包括由于人类生产、生活对自然改造形成的大地景观。这些景观不仅是历史上园林风格形成的重要因素，也是当今风景园林规划与设计的重要依据和形式来源。
  Regional feature is the natural and culture characters of land in certain area. It consists of the natural landscape which formed by natural forces and the earthscape formed by men`s living and production. This landscape is not only the important cause of traditional gardens but also the resources of forms in modern landscape design.

  景观是一个综合的整体，它是在一定的经济条件下实现的，必须满足社会的功能，也要符合自然的规律，遵循生态原则，同时还属于艺术的范畴。景观设计作品如要有持久的生命力，必定是在总体上达到了这些因素的互相平衡，它们与时代精神息息相关，吸收了历史的精神、但决不模仿固有的风格，符合科学的原则、反映了社会的需要、技术的发展、新的美学观念和价值取向。
  As an integrated whole, landscape is realized under a certain economy conditions. It should meet the need of the society, coincide with the rule of nature, follow the principle of ecology, and as the same time, it also belongs to the category of art. If landscape works have lasting vitality, they must be those which can balance these factors. They are closely linked with the times soul, absorb the historical spirit, but not imitate the existing style. They accord with the principle of science, and reflect the demands of society, the development of technology, the new ideas of aesthetics and tendency of values.

  现代景观设计的发展除根植于丰厚的园林传统外，还受到现代艺术的极大影响。现代雕塑，尤其是极简主义和大地艺术的思想和手法对当代景观设计产生了很大作用。大地艺术是雕塑和景观的综合，今天许多景观作品同时也被认为是大地艺术作品。
  The development of modern landscape architecture is rooted in the rich tradition of classical garden and is also deeply influenced by the modern art. The ideas and the methods of modern sculpture, especially of the Minimalism art and the land art, have much effect on the landscape design of today. Land art is a synthesis of sculpture and landscape architecture. Now many landscape works are also regarded as land art works.

  Searching for the combination of social quality and aesthetic quality, Danish landscape architects constructed their characteristic landscape with simple and clear language, and became one of the most influential group in the field of landscape architecture in Europe in the post-war years. This article introduces the ideas and works of three well-known Danish landscape architects, G. N. Brandt, C. T. Sorensen and S. I. Andersson.
